Good Way to Start off the New Year!

Congratulations Lisa! The email from Allene, from Allene's Beads began, "It was so nice to see your beads in Stringing Magazine" Hmm, that's a pretty curious statement, what does she mean? I am not in Stringing Magazine, Am I? I thought it was a mistake, I know I have some stuff coming up in Feb., but not Dec? So, she checked it out again, "Page 57, The December Issue, a linked piece by Marlene Blessing", she wrote... So I picked up a copy last night & she was right.. I know Marlene did tell me she was working on this, but I must have confused some dates..but I am happy to see it! Thanks Marlene for taking a chance on those freaky little connector stoneware beads!
This morning, again I was very happy to see an email from Mary Lou from Time2Cre8 who apparently is looking for an excuse to buy more beads :) ! She is digging thru her stash and I am super happy to see it I think she did a fabulous job converting a Raku Shank Button into a piece for a very versatile Ndebele Rope Necklace. I think its a gorgeous piece that will be super fabulous for Valentines Day! For more information about this listing check out Mary Lou's Etsy Shop.

So This New Year has started out pretty good so far! On New Years Day, even though we were pretty exhausted, tradition is that we take grandma to AC for a little "light" gambling :) Though we were dragging, we smiled big and made our way around the casino. We lost everything, but just for fun, we took our last $5 and played Sic Bo, a game where any kind of thinking is unecessary. Usually I ask Hank what number he would like me to play, he tells me and then I pick another..but this time I listened. I am happy to say, at 60 to 1 odds, he was right and we left with exactly what we brought with us to gamble. I told him it was all because of his telepathic skill that we won, but secretly I knew it was because Grandma was wearing "The One Armed Bandit" Cuff by Carol Dean Sharpe of SandFibers!

Have a great day everyone!

Beautiful August Days!

I cannot believe how gorgeous it has been outside lately, aside from the horrible thunderstorms which, in my opinion are really beautiful and create the most gorgeous, polarized light against all the herbs in my garden and the water droplets look like diamonds glistening off the leaves-something that would have encouraged me years ago to break out my large format camera and shoot for hours and hours. It saddens me that I do not do that anymore, I miss it sometimes. My bird feeder has been taken over by Doves and the little guys dont stand a chance at the feeders unless we go outside and shoo the doves away to give them a break., which we do very often. Each day I go for a long bike ride to get the blood flowing and exercise a little which I really need. It has made a big difference in my health, which took a back seat last year and my energy level is now natural and not adrenaline produced which is my usual mode of operation. I have been taking some of my inventory outside to photograph and little by little have been putting items on etsy and flickr.
I never used to create beads and now I just love doing it. Pendants were my thing until I got the idea for the exhibit using beads and I really became interested in them. There are a lot of beads in my inventory that need to be shown --- soon., I promise.
So check out my flickr site and as usual if you see something you like.. put a sticky note on it and its yours!
Til then,

Day 2 of my First Blog!

Actually I am avoiding the glazing I have sitting in front of me. I unloaded the kiln last night and had an anxiety attack. Instead of working today I did everything I could to get away from the house., (oops I mean studio) So I had my hair cut (2") -- had it dyed so I am a natural blonde again (wink, wink) even had a pedicure -- I did every errand I could so I didn't have to glaze.

I am not going to attack this all at once - just a few pieces at a time and I should be done by 2010. I began taking photo's after I unloaded the first two shelves, I figured I need to show my friends where I am when I don't answer emails for a while.

The sad part., I still have bone dry clay that has to be loaded for a new bisque.

Oh Boy!

Losing My Blogginity

I am proud to announce that I no longer have to say

" No, Sorry...I do NOT have a blog"

Over the last year or so friends and customers have been asking me " do you have a blog"? I did, it was a little page on my website but it really wasn't a "real" blog. I really wanted a real blog but never had the time to make one. Somewhere on e blogger is my first blog that I created and never edited and for some reason I cannot find it so I am now Lisa-Peters ART and not lisa peters ART. Sigh :( Anyway, I can assure you the rest of it will not be as boring as this hideous introduction. So here goes:

So here I am 3rd week in January and finished with the last 2 weeks of clay work. I have not moved from my chair at the kitchen counter since Jan 9th other than to sleep and load the kiln in intervals. Working primarily with Raku Clay and subsequently firing with such, I choose not to begin working that way and opted for some Brooklyn Red, Dark Brown and Grolleg Porcelain, all ^6. It wasn't until Sunday that I opened my true love Raku Clay. WOW, what a difference in my hands. When the kiln cools down this evening I can't wait to see what is waiting for me. (all 100lbs of it)

Since I cannot really show any work from the last two weeks since nothing has been fired yet I would like to provide a link and a photograph that was sent to me just a few moments ago from a customer and friend, Carol Dean Sharpe of SandFibers. Carol has described in detail her process on her flickr.com page http://www.flickr.com/photos/sandfibers/2212861822/ of using Peyote Stitch Beadwork around a Raku Cabachon, by yours truly. The title of this beautiful piece is "Warm Your Heart" and it certainly warms mine!

The Cabachon Carol used to create her piece is similar to those from my Raku Connector Sets.

The cabs (pictured below) come with wire on each end so that they can "connect" whatever it is you want them to. They look great with silk ribbons also.

Stay Tuned for the unloading of the kiln!
